Invest in a Child Program 2011 - 2012
As with most schools, Socrates Academy must fundraise annually to meet the many needs of our students, staff and faculty. The second annual Invest in a Child program was a big success again last year, raising almost $17,000.00 with approximately 70% family participation. The "Invest in a Child" program allows 100% of your hard earned money to go directly to the benefit of our students, and it is tax deductible. With 100% participation from all Socrates Academy families, we can accomplish all of our goals again this year.
In order to better meet the needs of the school and its operating expenses during this economically-challenging time, the PFI has had to increase the annual investment to $100 per family in order to be able to cover the expenses of the PFI. Your $100 per family donation will cover the cost of your PFI membership ($15) as well as the cost of one (1) yearbook per family (approx. $20). The remainder will go towards such things as the annual teacher stipend, athletics, laptops and technology fees, as well as other needs and requests by the faculty and staff. Some of the money that was raised last year went towards: fieldtrip transportation, teacher stipend, operational expenses, NWEA testing fees, Charter School Alliance membership, instructional and library supplies, community bulletin board and more. We could not have done all of that without your participation. Thank you to everyone that participated in the program last year.
Knowing how fortunate we are to have our children attend a school with a "private school" environment, amenities and feel, without the "private school" tuition, each of you are being asked to participate in this program by raising a minimum of $100 per family. You don't have to just write a check for the entire amount. Ask grandparents, aunts and uncles, or even close friends who have seen the benefits of Socrates Academy first hand in your children's success. We know that not every family will be able to meet this personal goal, and some may be able to do more.
The target amount of $100 per family was determined based on the needs of our school this year. The "Invest in a Child" program will run annually from September through March. This will be the PFI's only school-wide fundraiser. Each family is being asked to either pay $100 by September 30, 2011 or make four payments of $25. Please, start thinking of a strategy for the best way to meet your $100 per family goal. If you break this down to the school year, it is equivalent to $0.54 per day. Please remember that some employers may make or match donations.
As mentioned earlier, we are so fortunate and proud to be a part of such a wonderful school. Let's show our excitement, enthusiasm and support by having 100% participation in our 3rd annual "Invest in a Child" program. Thank you for continuing to be an involved family as we strive for excellence!
