President's Open Letter

Dear Socrates Academy Stakeholders, Prospective Scholars and Families,

I hope that this message finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe during these unsettling and unprecedented pandemic times.

After 15 years of academic excellence and innovation, Socrates Academy is transitioning now to add high school, starting with a challenging and promising 9th grade beginning in 2021-2022. By acquiring additional land, considerably improving our 20-acre campus, and creating new academic and athletic opportunities, we have ensured that our scholars will continue experiencing in our smaller, but more responsive positive and family-oriented learning environment, a well-rounded high school education of the highest academic standards.

In meeting our scholars’ high expectations for higher order concepts and empower them to realize their full potential, Socrates Academy will be offering the exciting and inspiring opportunity to further enrich their standard course of study by enrolling either in our academically and Intellectually gifted pathway of Global Studies Program, leading to the additional Socrates signature Global Studies Diploma, or in our creative and innovative Standard Course of Study blended with STEM Career-Oriented Course Certifications.

These two very promising educational pathways, enriched with advanced coursework in Greek Language and cultural heritage - the cradle of our Western Civilization and Democracy, make the big difference at Socrates, and a sure way of being accepted at premiere American universities or placing them in an advantageous position for starting a professional career immediately after their graduation.

The mission of our four-year College & Career Readiness Course of Study is to cultivate our young women and men to be global-minded, critical, and creative thinkers, technology-oriented and ethical lifelong learners for impactful national and global citizenship. Scholars in both programs must respectfully commit to and complete the N.C. Standard Course of Study as well as the stringent graduation course/credit requirements set by Socrates Academy curriculum through their participation in Honors and Standard Classes, hands-on projects, accredited and meaningful Study Abroad courses, extensive college and career Counseling, College and Advanced Placement courses taken on campus or remotely at higher institutions.

We all know that the transition to high school and particularly a student’s enrollment in 9th grade is a major life change that is very important for his/her long-term success. Socrates Academy is a public school choice option that gives parents the opportunity to ensure that their children are attending and belong to a school where they are getting the attention and services they need to improve and successfully face the today’s many world challenges.

We are most thankful and so proud of our scholars’ outstanding achievements and the prestigious academic recognitions and awards that our school received. We are incredibly grateful to our teachers for the strong partnership, love, and commitment for closing achievement gaps, and embodying our school’s mission. And last but not least, we remain extremely thankful for and appreciative to all our school’s benefactors, Board members, partners and volunteers for their great financial gifts, trust, and dedicated support of our Socrates mission over all these years.

Looking forward to better and brighter days in 2021, we invite you to join our Socrates Family.
