Socrates Academy Public Charter School located in Matthews, NC celebrates the season with an annual performance titled Holidays Around the World.

Celebration of the start of the Greek Independence revolution is a national holiday in Greece, Cyprus as well as in the Greek diaspora commemorating the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire, and the formation of an independent Greek state.
