Students will work with an array of hand building techniques while working with earthenware clay. Students will also have the opportunity to paint on pre-cast bisque ware. All work will be kiln fired and finished by exploring a variety of techniques.

Music Around the World will get your kids moving with dance and music from around the world and will make their own homemade instruments to take home. Your student will explore characteristics of different styles of music of different countries by learning songs and a dance from that country, PLUS making their own instruments.

Let's Learn about Greece!

July 10th – 14th  |  9am - 12pm (including 20 mins recess)


Campers will learn how to prepare simple Greek dishes, such as Greek salad, tzatziki, spanakopita, koulourakia (cookies) and more. Please inform Mrs. Cowles if your child has any dietary restrictions or allergies.

Campers will learn Greek songs and traditional dances from various parts of Greece. We will sing, dance and play music games.

Campers will learn all about Greek mythology through stories, arts and crafts and fun games.

Summer Stomp

Rising 3rd - 5th Grade

Kids will be engaged in the popular Stomp-style percussion camp. Rhythm will come alive as students use wacky instruments, their bodies, and games to play and perform musical patterns. Campers will use objects such as buckets, paint cans, trash cans, household items, like pots & pans, brooms, or anything else the kids can get their hands on to create rhythm and music. We will learn to read, write, and play rhythms using a wide range of percussive instruments. They will even make their own instruments at the camp to take home.

This will be a book club to encourage Summer reading among our middle schoolers (rising 7-9 graders). Each session will cover a different novel and will meet for two hours twice a week. The first novel will be and Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. Session 1 will meet June 19 & 21 and June 26 &28. Session 2 will meet July 10 & 12 and July 17 & 19. Bring your own book and composition notebook.

Under the Sea Art Camp

Piano Lesson
Intro to Piano/Keyboard Session

Has your scholar shown an interest in piano or keyboard? We will learn the basics of playing piano by using electronic keyboards and Mrs.Decker’s piano. During this camp, participants will learn the fundamentals of basketball from ball handling skills, passing, shooting, defensive and offensive skill work. We will work our way from beginner, intermediate, to advanced drills depending on the participants skill level. There will be games as well that utilize and sharpen the mentioned fundamental skills. At the end of the week there will be a scrimmage game between the camp with the winning team receiving a basketball from their favorite college/NBA team.

Robotics & Makerspace Camp

During this camp, scholars will learn to code and have hands on time building and working with various types of robots. Campers will also create their own project in our makerspace. This is a great opportunity for students to see how fun engineering and coding can be. Scholars will have an exciting time exploring technology, engineering, and their own creativity.

Story Time with STEM encourages a child’s scientific spirit through stories and hands-on play designed to inspire young children to begin discovering the world around them! We offer a daily theme centered around STEM-based storybooks and activities to explore like Slime Making, Lego Building, Egg Drop Challenge and more– perfect for little hands, curious minds, and book lovers alike. Snack, Lunch and Recess time will be included in our daily schedule.

New students at Socrates Academy will learn the Greek alphabet, the numbers and basic vocabulary. By the end of the session they will be able to make greetings and simple sentences in Greek. Learning Greek will be much easier for them at the beginning of next school year!
